Indian Railways has recently announced a double decker AC Train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai Central Station and vice versa , for six week a day (Monday to Saturday). Two numbers are assigned for these journeys. The train from Mumbai to Ahmedabad will be known as 12931 where, Ahmedabad to Mumbai train will be known as 12932.
The time of the train from Ahmedabad to Mumbai is a bit inconvenient , but for the journey in reverse order, the time seems very convenient.

These trains will have only one class of seats , that is AC Chair Car . No sleeper class other other class berth / seats are provided in this train.
With these multi-storied coaches , the Indian Railways has increased the number of seats (Carrying capacity) of a coach. Earlier, there were around 70-75 seats per coach in trains like Shatabdi Express. However, in this double decker , there are 120 seats per coach , with a total seating capacity for 1500 passengers. It takes around seven hours to complete a single journey.

As there are less number of halting stations , the running speed of this train can be considerably improved.
Fare for Mumbai Ahmedabad Double Decker train
As there is only single type of coach , there is a fixed amount of fare . The fare for a single one sided journey is Rs.471 . The fare will be in pro-rata basis for arrival and departure from other stations. This fare seems very cheaper , as compared to Shatabdi Express from Mumbai to Ahmedabad. However, no free food or other facility is provided here. There is a provision such paid services.
